Hello!

Thank you so much for visiting Down the Alley.  Other than chasing my own barrel racing ambitions, my other greatest passion is helping others achieve their goals!  We're all in this together, aren't we? What's the point of having knowledge if we don't share it?  I'm still learning and searching for knowledge all the time!

My Story

I remember the very moment I knew in my gut that I wanted to be a barrel racer...

Growing up we didn't have horses, but they were always a love of mine.  Instead of playing barbies or princess dress up or fairyland, I spent hours in my room playing with my horse figures and build stables out of popsicle sticks.  Every time we would pass horses in a field, I would daydream about riding one of them.

When I was a bit older, my mom took my sister and I to a local saddle club show.  We watched the judged events eagerly.  Then, there was an intermission and my sister needed to go to the restroom.  On our way there, a girl a few years older than me crossed in front of us on this mountain of a horse who was all jittery and excited.  I remember being a little startled.  She looked over and said, "It's ok.  He won't hurt you."  And on they went.

Once we made it back to our seat, the speed events had started.  In that moment, it was like my something lit my soul on fire.  Watching those horses charge into the arena, turn 3 barrels, and race out... it was electrifying.  Almost like God whispered, "this is what you're meant for."  I had found my passion and the dream I wanted to chase.

So, 15 years later, here I am.  Still chasing my dreams.  Not coming from a horse background, I've had MANY trial and errors.  Which is what has led me here!  Sharing my knowledge in hopes that it helps others skip all the heartache, back tracking, time, and money spent on figuring things out along the way.
